Card payments and your EPOS

How card fees are built, why an integrated terminal matters at close, and which card machines work with which tills. Written for operators comparing a merchant statement, not for banks.

Short answer

UK card machine fees are a percentage of each sale plus, often, a few pence per transaction, so the rate that matters is the one worked out on your real average ticket. An integrated terminal takes the amount from the till, so there is no retyping and the day reconciles itself. Posso Pay is Posso's own merchant service, quoted from 1% + 10p on card turnover and the same rate in store and online; Teya and Dojo terminals are also supported.

Card payments — frequently asked questions

What is a typical card machine fee in the UK?

Payment-led readers usually charge a flat 1.5–1.75% per transaction. Merchant accounts are usually lower on the percentage and add pence per transaction. Posso Pay is quoted from 1% + 10p on your card turnover, so ask for the rate worked out on your real average sale.

What does an integrated card machine do that a standalone one does not?

The till sends the amount to the terminal, the customer taps, and the order is marked paid, with no retyping, no mismatched totals and card takings already split on the Z report.

Does Posso work with Teya or Dojo?

Yes. Posso integrates with Teya and Dojo terminals where a site already has one, and supplies Posso Pay terminals otherwise.
