EPOS that works with Dojo
Plenty of UK counters already have a Dojo card machine and a contract to go with it. The question is whether a new till means a new terminal. With Posso it does not: a site that already has Dojo keeps it, pairs it to the till and decides later whether to move to Posso Pay. This page explains how that works, who should do which, and how to switch mid-contract without paying twice.
- Dojo terminals pair to the till: amount pushed, order marked paid
- Keep Dojo to the end of the agreement, then compare quotes
- Complete EPOS from £499 + VAT; Posso Pay from 1% + 10p

Short answer
Yes, Posso works with Dojo. Where a site already has a Dojo card machine, the terminal is paired to the Posso till: the total is pushed from the order to the terminal, so staff do not type the amount, and the order is marked paid when the terminal approves. An integrated terminal removes the two costs an unintegrated one hides: mis-keyed amounts and a 20 to 30 minute reconciliation of the Z report against the terminal batch at close. Whether you then stay on Dojo or move to Posso Pay is a separate decision, best made when your Dojo agreement ends and on your own card turnover. A complete Posso system is £499 + VAT.
Key takeaways
- A Dojo terminal you already have pairs to a Posso till; the amount is pushed, not typed.
- Keeping Dojo and moving to Posso Pay are separate decisions; the till works either way.
- Run your Dojo agreement to its end rather than paying a termination fee to switch early.
- Compare Dojo and Posso Pay on your own monthly card turnover, not on headline rates.
Takeaway: Buy the till on its merits, keep the Dojo terminal until the agreement ends, and compare card quotes on your own numbers at renewal.
Why this page exists
The till should not dictate the card machine
Most operators buy their card machine and their till at different times, from different people, for different reasons. The card agreement is often signed first, because a new business needs to take payment before it needs reporting. Then, a year or two later, the owner wants a proper till and discovers that the two purchases have to be reconciled: either the new till talks to the existing terminal or someone types every total into the card machine by hand for the rest of the contract.
That typing is not a small thing. A member of staff keying £18.40 into a terminal at speed on a Saturday will, often enough to matter, key £14.80 or £81.40, and the error surfaces either as an angry customer or as a gap between the till's card total and the terminal's settlement that someone has to find at 11pm.
The common mistake is to let the card provider's integration list choose the till, or to break a card agreement early to get a till that only works with one terminal. Neither is necessary when the till pairs to the terminal you already have. The card payments hub covers the wider question of how a till and a card machine should work together; this page answers it for one pairing.
How it works
What integrating a Dojo terminal with the till gives you
Push the amount from the order, never from memory
Once paired, the Posso till sends the exact basket total to the Dojo terminal when staff select card payment. The customer taps, the terminal approves and the till marks the order paid, with the card tender recorded against that order. Nobody reads a total off one screen and types it into another. On a counter doing 200 card sales on a Friday, this removes the mis-keys and the conversations that follow them.
Reconcile once at close, not twice
Because every card sale is recorded against an order with the amount the terminal actually approved, the till's end-of-day card total and the Dojo settlement describe the same transactions. The check at close is a glance: the Z report's card line against the terminal's batch total. Where they differ, the till shows which order is out, rather than leaving someone to work through 200 receipts. Refunds and voids are started from the till, so they land in the same records.
Pair on arrival, not with an engineer
Pairing is set up with Posso support rather than by an engineer visit, and the test is a small sale and a refund before service. Where the terminal was on the shop's guest Wi-Fi, move it to the same network as the till and reserve its address on the router so it does not wander. Nothing about the Dojo agreement changes: the terminal simply receives the amount from the till instead of from a finger.
Keep the agreement you already signed
Pairing a Dojo terminal does not require a new card contract. If your Dojo agreement has a year to run and a termination fee, the right move is to keep it, pair it, and put the saving from integration in the bank now, as the reducing card fees guide recommends. When the agreement reaches its end, you compare quotes on your own turnover and decide. The till works with Dojo and with Posso Pay alike, so the card decision is made on card numbers rather than forced by hardware.
Decide on card fees with your own statement, not a rate card
Whether Dojo or Posso Pay is cheaper for you depends on your average ticket, your monthly card turnover and your mix of debit, credit and business cards, not on the headline rate. Check Dojo's current rates on its website, take your last three statements, and ask Posso for a written Posso Pay quote on the same months. Posso Pay is quoted on card turnover from 1% + 10p, the same rate in store and online. The card machine fees guide shows how to do the arithmetic.
Your options for card payments with a Posso till
Three routes, what each typically involves in the UK market, and what Posso publishes. No Dojo figures are quoted here; check Dojo's current rates on its website.
| Route | What it involves | Typical UK position | Posso |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keep your existing Dojo terminal | Pair the terminal to the till; amount pushed from the order | Check Dojo's current rates and terms on its website | Supported where a site already has Dojo; no new card contract needed |
| Move to Posso Pay | Posso-supplied terminal paired to the till before shipping | Merchant accounts typically around 1–1.5% plus pence | From 1% + 10p, quoted on card turnover, same in store and online |
| Keep a Teya terminal | Native integration, as with Dojo | Merchant accounts typically around 1–1.5% plus pence | Supported; see the Teya page |
| Unintegrated reader | Staff type the amount into a separate device | Payment-led readers typically 1.5–1.75% flat | Works, but loses the reconciliation and mis-key protection |
| EPOS system | Till, kitchen printer, receipt printer, drawer, menu build, training | £300–£1,500 one-off; software £25–£70 a month | £499 + VAT; software from £25 + VAT a month |
Ranges are typical UK figures at October 2026; Posso prices are published on EPOS pricing.
Who should keep Dojo, and who should move to Posso Pay
Keep Dojo if the agreement has time to run and the rate is competitive
A site with a year or more left on a Dojo agreement, a termination fee and a rate that holds up against a Posso Pay quote on the same turnover has no reason to change. Pair the terminal, take the integration saving now, and set a reminder for three months before the agreement ends.
Move to Posso Pay if you want one supplier and one number to call
Where the Dojo agreement is at or near its end, or where you are taking online orders and paying a different online rate, moving to Posso Pay brings the till, the terminal and the online gateway under one quote and one support line, Monday to Friday, 9am–9:30pm. The same rate applies in store and online, which matters once your own ordering site is taking a share of sales.
Switch mid-contract only by running both to the handover
The switching path is not to break the Dojo agreement. It is to install the Posso till now, pair the Dojo terminal, trade on it until the agreement ends, and have a Posso Pay terminal paired and tested the week before the Dojo contract closes. Staff see the same till the whole time; only the card machine on the counter changes, on a day you choose, with no gap in taking payment.
What to ask before you sign
Will my existing Dojo terminal pair to this till, and what does that cost?
Ask the till provider to confirm the integration in writing for your terminal model and to state the cost of pairing it. With Posso, Dojo terminals a site already has are supported and pairing happens on arrival with remote support.
What is my termination fee and end date on the Dojo agreement?
Find the end date and the early-termination terms on your Dojo agreement before any till decision, and check Dojo's current terms on its website if you are unsure. If a fee applies, the arithmetic almost never favours leaving early to save a fraction of a percent; it favours integrating what you have and comparing at renewal.
What does the online rate look like, and is it the same as in store?
Many providers price online card payments differently from in-store taps. If you take web or app orders, ask both Dojo and any alternative for the online rate in writing and compare it on your online turnover. Posso Pay charges the same rate in store and online from 1% + 10p, quoted on card turnover, which simplifies the comparison for sites with a growing share of online sales.
The Posso position
The Posso approach to Dojo and card payments
Posso works with Dojo terminals where a site already has one. The terminal is paired to the till during setup, the amount is pushed from the order and the order is marked paid when the terminal approves, so the mis-key and the nightly reconciliation go on day one, whatever the card agreement says. The complete system is £499 + VAT including the touchscreen terminal, kitchen printer, receipt printer, cash drawer, menu build and training, with software from £25 + VAT a month and finance from £24.92 a week, subject to status. You own the hardware outright; software is from £25 + VAT a month.
When you are ready to compare, Posso Pay is Posso's own merchant service, quoted on card turnover from 1% + 10p, with the same rate in store and through your online ordering site. The quote is done on your real statements rather than a printed rate, and we will put it in writing next to your Dojo figures so the decision is arithmetic. Teya terminals are supported in the same way, so a site with either can keep what it has.
Support for the till and for a Posso Pay terminal is one number, Monday to Friday, 9am–9:30pm from Leicester, with an urgent out-of-hours line for till-down issues. Hardware carries a two-year warranty. Setup (menu build + configuration) is free; on-site installation for larger sites is priced on application. Systems are preconfigured and shipped plug-and-play.
Where to look elsewhere
If you are a sole trader with a Dojo machine, a short menu and no kitchen, a till is more system than you need, and the right answer is to keep the terminal and carry on. Integration solves a reconciliation problem that a few dozen sales a day does not have.
If your business is primarily retail with barcoded stock, you need a retail platform with purchasing and stock control, and your Dojo integration question should be put to one of those. Posso is a hospitality EPOS and does not pretend otherwise.

EPOS with Dojo — frequently asked questions
Does Posso work with Dojo card machines?
Yes, where a site already has a Dojo terminal. The terminal is paired to the Posso till, the amount is pushed from the order to the terminal and the order is marked paid when the terminal approves. Refunds start from the till. Pairing is done on arrival with remote support and tested with a 1p sale and a refund before service.
Can I keep my Dojo contract if I buy a Posso till?
Yes. Pairing a Dojo terminal to the till does not change your Dojo agreement and does not require a new card contract. If the agreement has time to run, the sensible path is to keep it, take the integration benefit now and compare quotes on your own turnover when it ends. Check Dojo's current terms on its website if you are unsure of your end date or termination fee.
Should I switch from Dojo to Posso Pay?
Only if the numbers say so. Take your last three Dojo statements, check Dojo's current rates on its website, and ask Posso for a written Posso Pay quote on the same months. Posso Pay is quoted on card turnover from 1% + 10p, the same rate in store and online. If Posso Pay is cheaper on your own turnover and your Dojo agreement is at or near its end, switch; if not, keep Dojo paired to the till.
How do I switch card provider mid-contract without a gap in taking payment?
Install the till now and pair the existing Dojo terminal. Trade on it until the Dojo agreement ends. The week before, have the new terminal paired and tested on the same till. On the handover day, the only change on the counter is the card machine; staff use the same till screens throughout. Do not cancel the old agreement until the new terminal has taken a live sale.
How much does a Posso EPOS system cost with a Dojo terminal?
The complete Posso system is £499 + VAT including the touchscreen terminal, kitchen printer, receipt printer, cash drawer, menu build and training, with software from £25 + VAT a month or finance from £24.92 a week subject to status. Pairing an existing Dojo terminal is part of setup. Your Dojo card fees continue under your Dojo agreement; Posso does not quote or charge them.
What happens to card payments if the internet goes down?
The Posso till runs from an offline-first local database, so orders can still be rung, printed to the kitchen and paid in cash while the broadband is down. Any card terminal, Dojo or otherwise, needs a connection to authorise a payment, so a terminal with its own mobile data fallback keeps card sales running where a Wi-Fi-only one does not. Ask your card provider which yours has.
